What hashrate actually measures
Hashrate is the combined computing power that miners dedicate to processing transactions and producing new blocks. It is usually expressed in hashes per second, and a higher figure means more machines are competing to solve the cryptographic puzzle that adds each block to the chain.
A rising hashrate is often read as a proxy for network health.
